MessageStats - Frequently Asked Questions
What versions of Microsoft Exchange Server does the Quest MessageStats support?
- MessageStats supports Exchange Server 2000/2003/2007. For assistance with Exchange server migrations, MessageStats will also gather, analyze and report on Exchange 5.5 data
How does this MessageStats help with my Exchange migration?
- Most organizations do not have good documentation in regards to their Exchange deployments. Lack of documentation of server, users, mailboxes etc. makes a migration more risky and complex. MessageStats™ contains a series of pre-built reports for Exchange known as Inventory reports. Inventory reports automate much of the work required in planning environmental changes or migration in an Exchange environment. In the case of pre-migration assessments, the concept of regions can be used to model site, server, and storage consolidation predictions based on actual metrics.
What reports are included in MessageStats?
- Out-of-the-box MessageStats provides reporting on Exchange, Outlook Web Access, Archive Manager, Blackberry, Sendmail, Postfix, Windows Mobile, and Office Communication Server.
What is new in MessageStats version 6.6?
- Updated archiving for tracking logs, enhanced server roles and intelligent gathering for Exchange 2007, additional storage group reporting and updated platform support. And, now MessageStats fully supports SQL Server 2008 and Internet Explorer 8.
What if I tried building my own Exchange reports? How is this Exchange reporting tool any better?
- Exchange maintains all of its reporting information in a series of cryptic log files. It is a time consuming and tedious task to parse and extract relevant information from them. MessageStats™ collects Exchange data from tracking logs and other sources, analyzes the data, and stores the results in a SQL database. Web-based reports can then be produced to describe usage, financials, capacity, service delivery and inventory of one or more Exchange organizations across a given enterprise.
Where can I get support for MessageStats?
- MessageStats is supported by Quest Software and can be reached at http://support.quest.com/ or 1.800.306.9329 (949.754.8000).
